Dr. Maheep Singh Gaur  graduated from Gandhi Medical College Bhopal India in 1986.  Following this he did post-graduation in general surgery in 1990. His thesis for Masters degree in Surgery work was on Urolitiasis. His work was later published in British Journal of Urology. He joined department of neurosurgery in SMS Medical College & Hospital, Jaipur, India in 1991 as senior resident and later  selected for postdoctoral degree program in Neurosurgery in May 1991 under Rajasthan University. He started practice in New Delhi as consultant neurosurgeon 1995 after passing his his post doctoral degree.


In 1996 he joined fellowship program in Stereotactic Functional Neurosurgery and Radiosurgery at Stereotaxis and Gamma Knife centre, Fujieda Heisei Memorial Hospital, Shizuoka, Japan, under Dr. Tatsuo Hirai and Dr. Takaaki Takizawa, During this fellowship he participated in about 500 Gamma Knife Surgeries and Micro-recording assisted functional neurosurgery procedures for movement disorders. He learnt various aspects of stereotactic frame based and frameless neuro navigation.










On return to India in 1997 he joined Vidyasagar Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences [Vimhans] at New Delhi India as Consultant Neurosurgeon. In 1998 he established first Gamma Knife centre in a dedicated neuroscience centre in SAARC region. He was designated head of Gamma knife Surgery at Vimhans. He has experience of more than 2000 Gamma Knife Treatments collectively. He founder Asian Radiosurgery Conference and conducted first Asian Gamma Knife Training Program at Saitama Japan.



He became director of Kumud Chawla Gamma Knife Centre at Goodwill Hospital in August 2009 on installation of Leksell Gamma Knife Perfexion. This was first Gamma Knife Perfexion centre closed in December 2014 due to financial problems of the hospital and promoter.


He has special interest in radiosurgery for Arteriovenous Malformation, Pituitary Adenoma, Acoustic Schwannoma, Skull Base Meningiona,  Metastatic and malignant tumors of Brain, Parkinsons’s Disease,  & Psychosurgery



He has keen interest in particle therapy and particle physics. He continue to attend various training program in field of particle therapy and physics including program conducted by ESTRO and CERN. He is keen to develop Particle Radiosurgery in India and do research in this field


Presently Dr Maheep Singh Gaur is an independent Stereotactic Radisurgery consultant. He treats his patients at Gamma Knife Centre at Vimhans  and BL Kapoor Hospital Cyberknife Centre  in New Delhi. He also Participate and treat his patient at various overseas centers of excellence including Tokyo Gamma Knife Centre [ Gamma Knife Perfexion]. He usually takes his Particle and Proton Therapy patients  to Procure Proton Therapy Centre at New Jersey.
